By downloading, installing, or using the Excuse You mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Excuse You is a habit tracking application designed to help users build lasting habits through:
- Research-based habit formation methodology (66-day model)
- Conversational interaction and progress tracking
- Local data storage on user devices
- Customizable reminders and notifications
- Visual progress analytics
3. Use License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
You May:
- Use the App on any device you own or control
- Track your personal habits and progress
- Customize settings and preferences
You May Not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Distribute, sell, or sublicense the App
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or networks
4. User Responsibilities
Your Obligations:
- Personal Use: Use the App only for your own personal habits and goals
- Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
Data Management:
You are solely responsible for:
- All data you create or store within the App
- Backing up your data (if desired) before uninstalling
- Understanding that uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local data
5. Privacy & Data
Your privacy is important to us. Our data handling practices are detailed in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Key Points:
- All habit data is stored locally on your device
- No habit data is transmitted to servers or third parties
- Limited technical data (crashes, performance) is collected via Firebase
6. Disclaimers
Not Medical or Therapeutic Advice:
IMPORTANT: Excuse You is a productivity and self-improvement tool, NOT a medical device, therapeutic tool, or health application. The App:
- Does not provide medical, mental health, or therapeutic advice
- Is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological treatment
- Does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition
- Should not be relied upon for medical decision-making
Consult qualified healthcare professionals for medical or mental health concerns.
No Guarantees:
We do not guarantee that using the App will result in:
- Successful habit formation
- Behavior change or personal improvement
- Achievement of specific goals or outcomes
- Any particular results or benefits
Your success depends on personal effort, consistency, and circumstances beyond our control.
Research References:
The App's methodology is based on published scientific research (Lally et al., 2009, UCL). While we strive for accuracy, we make no guarantees about the applicability of this research to your specific situation.
7. Limitation of Liability
AS-IS Basis:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
- Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
Damages:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOODIDEED SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your device or data
- Statements or conduct of third parties using the App
Maximum Liability:
Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Since the App is currently free, this means our liability is limited to zero dollars ($0).
8. Modifications to the App
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice
- Update features, content, or functionality
- Change or remove content without liability to you
We are not obligated to maintain, support, update, or provide bug fixes for the App.
9. Modifications to Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. Changes become effective when we post the updated Terms with a new "Effective Date." Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
10. Termination
By You:
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. This permanently deletes all locally stored data.
By Us:
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
- Any reason or no reason, at our sole discretion
Effect of Termination:
Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution.
11. Intellectual Property
The App and all content, features, and functionality are owned by goodideed and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You acknowledge that:
- All rights not expressly granted are reserved
- Trademarks, logos, and service marks are property of goodideed
- You acquire no ownership rights by using the App
12. Third-Party Services
The App uses Firebase services (provided by Google LLC) for crash reporting, performance monitoring, and optional analytics. Your use of these services is subject to:
- Google's Terms of Service
- Firebase Terms of Service
- Google Privacy Policy
We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms.
13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
Governing Law:
These Terms are governed by the laws of the EU, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Informal Resolution:
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@goodideed.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
14. Regional Provisions
European Union Users:
If you are located in the EU, you have certain rights under the GDPR, including rights to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. See our Privacy Policy for details.
California Users:
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following consumer rights notice: If you have a question or complaint regarding the App, please contact us at support@goodideed.com. 15. Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement:
These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and goodideed regarding the App.
Severability:
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
Waiver:
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment:
You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
No Third-Party Beneficiaries:
These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights.

17. Apple App Store Requirements
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and goodideed, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support
- Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
- Apple is not liable for any claims related to the App
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them
