FAQ

How does a focus session work?

Start a session, place your phone down, and keep it still. If the device moves beyond the detection threshold or you leave the app, the session ends.

What triggers a failure?

Significant motion detected by the device sensors or leaving the app during an active session. Short grace windows can prevent accidental bumps from ending a session.

What is Low Power Mode?

Low Power Mode uses gentler rules to reduce battery impact and make sessions a little more forgiving. The app may suggest enabling it based on your battery level.

My device says motion sensors are unavailable.

If your device lacks required motion sensors or sensor access is restricted, Doomscroll Totem switches to a manual session flow. On supported devices, it can use accelerometer-only or dual-sensor (accelerometer + gyroscope) detection; if neither is available, you can still complete sessions by tapping Stop when finished.

Where is my data stored?

All progress, totems, and settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes this data.

Do you collect analytics?

Yes. We use Firebase Analytics to log anonymous app usage events and Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes. See the for details.

How do consumable totems work?

Premium totem designs are consumables. If you fail a session while a premium totem is active, it can be consumed and moved to the trophy room. Consumables cannot be restored once consumed.

Can I restore purchases?

Stores can restore eligible purchases through their normal flows. For consumables, restorations are limited to cases where a purchase did not complete properly or was not consumed. If you need help, email support with your order details.
